STYLE: How to Wear Denim Shorts in the City: New York

A time comes when you mentally note you really should not wear jean shorts unless you are going to the country or the beach. Yes, they feel too young and also require a substantial amount of cross fit and yoga (my new workout routine!). But pair them pumps and a buttoned-up white shirt (post-workout routine), and the cut-offs magically transform into something you can also wear in the city. I would still not wear this outfit to the office, but love it for the weekend and for city vacations. This will certainly go into the suitcase as I head to Finland on Thursday!

* Reuse Jean Shorts in recycled cotton * Beyond Skin vegan leopard pumps * White Shirt (old Filippa K that might just last forever)  * Makeup: OCC bronze and golden eyeshadows, Sante blue eyeshadows, Lavera lipstick and mascara *

THE FIND: Blue Striped Tom’s These Blue Beckett Women’s Vegan Classic flats ($54) by Toms Shoes complete a chic, casual outfit. Last night I had a dinner and movie date with my husband in Brooklyn, and taking into account all the puddles after hot summer day showers, I couldn’t figure out which shoes to wear to look cute in my cropped jeans and a tee. These would have been perfect! Stripes always look stylish and sophisticated, even if your outfit is otherwise cool and casual. Blue Striped Toms are a weekend wear must-have and of course, how chic is the fact that every time you purchase a pair, a child-in-need gets a pair too?  - Annabella, New York
