STYLE: DKNY Jeans Faux Fur Coat

Vogue has featured faux fur as a “glamorous,” even “cinematic” option! This gorgeous piece is by DKNY Jeans. The word in the Twitter world is that the coat only comes in black ($495). I have Tweeted DKNY Jeans (as I, for one, would love to white one), so be sure to follow us on Twitter to get the scoop!

BRIDAL: Custom Made Wedding Dress

** As Annabella’s lakeside nuptials are just six weeks away and we are in the midst of bridal bliss, we’ll bring you a fashion and beauty countdown to your Big Day! **

If you want a truly unique, custom-made dress, look for independent designers who specialize in bridal and can create the kind of feeling you are looking for. You will not only get personalized service and a one-of-a-kind dress; you will also save on buying a designer name right off the rack.

After I said “I do” and we decided on an American winter wedding and a summer blessing in Finland, I wanted a dress that would work for both occasions and exude romance, with a bit of a vintage feel.

My dream dress was the lace number by Oscar de la Renta featured on Runway to Green until I found Minna Hepburn. After multiple Skype consultations (Minna has a design studio in London), Minna custom created the patterns for the long train and deep V-neck and discovered the vintage buttons for the back and the peace silk that would line the Scottish lace. I got the dress hemmed and made slightly narrower by a local trailer and voilà! I loved every moment in that dress and I’m so blessed that I get to wear it again.

With love, Annabella

How to make your lipstick last all day? First, use a lipliner to paint your lips, then lightly dust powder on your lips. After you have created this perfect base, apply lipstick.

P.S. We are currently on the hunt for the best bright lip colors by eco brands and just asked for testers, so stay tuned on who made the cut!

STYLE: Floral Maxi Dress from Day to Night

Maxi dress rarely works for the office or an evening event, but this piece by Komodo seems capable for all occasions! (The only eco-friendly and chic floral pieces I found were from Komodo which is why I ordered all my blooms from there; please let me know if you have discovered other great brands featuring florals!).

For brunch, I paired the Alice Maxi with nude Stella McCartney ballerinas and a small Matt and Nat shoulder bag. For the office and after-work dinner, I accessorized this ankle-length floral frock with black Olsen Haus pumps with a purple platforms (same colors as in the dress) and a larger Stella McCartney tote. My favorite part of this piece are the long sleeves and the sophisticated, yet slightly sexy v-neck: I believe those are the reasons it just works for almost everything.

PS. Next week I’ll be posting a video on how to style florals. I just moved so the video features the gorgeous Manhattan views from my old Brooklyn terrace one last time! If you haven’t yet, you can subscribe to our youtube channel here.  Thanks so much for visiting us here:-)

Style: Hip-Hugging Tunic

This is our first-ever Helsinki vs. New York style pictorial!

The sister style challenge: how do you wear a tunic that’s fitted on the hips on different shapes and sizes? I have slimmer hips and look better with pieces that are slightly lose on me: shift dresses that just “hang” are heaven for my body type. Viola has fantastical curves, so she looks amazing in form-fitting, feminine pieces.

When we received this Ivana Basilotta Aurora  peace-silk piece as part of our MISSQA stock, we started brainstorming different ways to wear it.

Viola opted to style it as a slouchy top with wide-leg jeans. I, instead, wore it as a mini dress with tights. This summer, I’ll wear it with bare legs and Viola will swap the jeans to shorts. How would you wear this piece? Please let us know in the comments below!

STYLE: One-Shoulder Dress

I have never had easier time choosing what to wear when I was planning my outfit for my Finnish TV show’s premiere party. It takes me more time to dress for work meetings!

One-shoulder dress is always elegant, yet subtly sexy and it was exactly what I wanted to communicate when doing press. I paired this Ivana Basilotta peace-silk piece with a Jill Milan clutch and Beyond Skin leopard-print heels. I kept the gems simple and only added an old thin gold cuff (my good luck charm) and stud earrings.

The TV show follows the lives of four real Finnish women working and living in New York (yes, very Sex and the City) and premiered yesterday on the Liv TV channel. Some of the highlights include eco fashion events (in this city, being vegan and eco is glamorous!) and my volunteer trip to Catskills Animal Sanctuary, which is a magical place.
